GEAR - SHOWS
This page is devoted to my live audio work. I am an amateur concert taper. My recording gear is fairly inexpensive. I mostly record my own performances, and shows that I am personally involved in (my friends' shows, my own performances, shows at Princeton, etc). I am not an active trader, but if you would like one of these shows please email me and we'll see if we can work something out.

All shows from 2002 to October 2003 were recorded using my iBook:

  With the iBook I would use a Griffin iMic for sound input since the iBook has no line input. I now mostly use direct input on the PowerBook although I use the iMic to do additinoal tracks. When using microphones (mostly borrowed SM 58s)  I need to use mixer to power the mics because the iMic can't power most professional microphones due limited power provided by the USB bus.  In the past I used to use Adam Minkoff's Tascam Portastudio 414mkII 4-track recorder as a mixer and mic preamp. I also borrowed Matt Reich's Fostex 4-track once Adam's died. Later on I borrowed Ido Zmishlany's Samson MDR6 6-channel mixer.
 On the iBook I would
use Coaster 1.1.2 audio recording software which only runs in Mac OS 9. The new PowerBooks do not boot into OS 9 so I now use both Audio Recorder and Audio In. I prefer to record directly from the sound board since I do not have quality microphones of my own, which is usually possible for the shows that I am involved in.
